Natural Image - Tree

'Images from Nature'
are frequently chosen to represent the 'hypnotic' world.

This simple association with
'Mother Nature'

accentuates the innately human and normal aspects
of the process of 'going into trance.'

These images are relaxing; calming; soothing;
and essentially meditative.

Such images promote the safety and natural-ness of the relationship
between the client and therapist:
between the listener and his/her patient.

They are far removed from,
and indeed directly challenge,
the old ideology
of an authoritarian, 'all-powerful'
'magician-like' figure,
'manipulating weaker minds'
and exerting some dominant influence 'over' people!

Pictures like the one above,
also attempt to embellish and enhance
the 'aura' of the natural world,
so that it appears 'super-natural' - 'extra-natural.'

This particular photograph
seeks to bring out - visually -
the 'special qualities'
the 'special and distinct state -of-mind'
that is experienced during an hypnotic trance.

By definition,
hypnosis is 'a form of consciousness' -
but it is also a specially induced form of
'altered consciousness' -
Sleep-like,
but not yet sleep itself;
Dream-like,
yet not like dreaming.

And so,
just as we have all experienced profound moments,
when transient sights in the 'Natural World'
leave us breathless,
moved;
inspired -

then ...

to experience the peace of a deep, hypnotic trance,
is a special, rare and wondrous thing.

This tree,
with its glowing aura,
and 'mere suggestion'
of a new sunrise yet to come,
speaks volumes,
at a 'subliminal level',
to the unconscious mind.

Who wouldn't wish to try and find such peace?

Powerful stuff!
